Pub of The Season

This seasonal award was introduced in 2010 and is presented twice a year to the pub that is seen to have shown the most improvement over the last 6 months.

This could be anything from increasing or improving the beer range, Supporting the Locale Scheme, running beer festivals, organising brewery trips providing a community function or that the pub is seen to be supporting CAMRA and it’s aims by actively promoting Real Ale.


Kingston & Leatherhead Pub Of The Season – Winter 2019/20

We are very pleased to announce that The Bell, East Molsey has been voted Winter Pub of The Season 19/20.

This historic coaching Inn, known locally as the Crooked House, dates from 1460 and was later East Molesey’s first post office. The 18th century highwayman Claude Duvalier hid from the Bow Street Runners here. The naval officer atop the weathervane looking through his spyglass for customers, originally stood on the parish church looking for the congregation. Full of nooks and crannies, suitable for romantic liaisons. The large garden has a children’s play areas in it. Stone and wood floors, walls decorated with old photos of the area. Three TV screens for sports. Quiz night Tue. The changing beers include at least one local one.

A presentation will be made on the daytime crawl of Molesey on Weds 15th Jan at approx 4pm


Kingston & Leatherhead Pub Of The Season – Summer 2019

We are delighted that The Black Lion, Surbiton was awarded our Summer Pub of The Season 2019

The Black Lion is a Traditional pub on the corner with Maple Road. Owned by Young’s since 1840, when the coach to Brighton stopped outside. A dark wood bar serves two areas, with also a raised seating area to the side. The lounge end is carpeted, and has upholstered benches around the leaded windows, while the public end has a slate floor. Quiz night is on Tuesday with bands playing twice a month on Thursday or Saturdays. Seven letting rooms. Live sport on TV from BT and Sky. Regular beers are Surrey Hills Ranmore, Timothy Taylor Landlord, Young’s Bitter & Young’s Special with one guest – usually from a local brewery e.g Wimbledon, Sambrooks
